Sometimes, a trip is so good, so fulfilling that one doesn’t want to write about it. Writing about it to someone makes me feel as if I’m letting go of it. This was one of such trips but I’m forcing myself to put this one out, so that it might help others and also maybe I can always revisit the trip by coming back to this post.
First post of this series will be preparing for the trip. Sort of a checklist that you should check off while planning for the trip.
Return ticket is needed to get a tourist visa. So get this first. We got return tickets for a good price of Rs.13,000 / person.
The next thing you will need for this trip is a VISA. You can get a travel agent for this. The one I got charged me a total of Rs.2200 for each visa processed. The documents one has to give the Travel agent are:
- return tickets to Singapore
- passport with validity for the next 6 months
- your photos – 2 copies (any studio will know the kind of pics needed for Singapore visa)
That’s all. It’s quite simple. Within 3 working days, you should be able to collect the visa from the agent.
WALKING AROUND MONEY – SINGAPORE DOLLARS (SGD)
If you are going to Singapore, you will do the following things that will incur significant cost:
- Universal studios + cable car + SEA aquarium = SGD 100 (approx)
- Bird park + Zoo + night safari = SGD 90 (approx)
- Shopping in Mustafa = SGD 50 (approx)
Then include public transport, food, other attractions, it will come close to SGD 500 per head ( RS. 25,000). This does not include stay, coz that you will be booking online even before going to Singapore I guess.
I would say that stay will be a major chunk of the money you will spend if you are looking for a good place (that is you are going with your wife and/or family). But from my trip, I’d say that find a place that is closer to the metro stations.
TRAVEL WITHIN SINGAPORE
Get an EZ link card which is used in public transport (buses and MRT(train)). It makes your transportation costs really cheap.
