You wake up on a Saturday and think of going somewhere, in and around Chennai. Maybe with kids or just your wife and you. or just you! These are the places that any group can enjoy (with kids or/and wife) for a one day relaxing drive and be back home. I’ve started a series that will address the places in and around Chennai that you can see. This is the first post of the series.
You start by around 10 AM and drive to Dakshina Chithra (closed on Mondays). You would reach there by around 11 AM.
About Dakshina Chithra. The idea of this place is to showcase the ethinicity of the 4 south-Indian states (Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh(o boy! now that there is also Telangana, don’t know how that is going to turn out!), Tamil Nadu and Kerala). The place is roughly divided into 4 houses which represent the architecture of these states. It also has artifacts used by the people of these states.
There is also a hotel/cafeteria inside the campus of Dakshina Chithra, don’t expect great cuisine. But there lots of restaurants on the ECR where you can get a good lunch.
